My head unit gone bad.. throwing out E20 code. I need to know if i can buy those normal cd players from best buy and install it with any kind of adapters or something like that. i dont want to rewire the whole car yet... i need a cheap temp solution for the time being.

let me know if anybody has done so before.. what kind of adapters i will need if its possible to do so.

    its a 99 firebird.

    thanks

First, please read the sticky at the top of the forum. Please note the link inside to our FAQ in the modifications encyclopedia. Pretty much every common question will be answered between those two places.

Does this error code pop up at all times of day? Cold weather or hot? E20 code just means that the disc in unreadable. Could come from many things, but the most common thing is that your disc is scratched or dirty. If it does this with all discs, you may think about opening er' up and give it the once over with some canned air.

And lastly, Monsoon or Non-Monsoon, you can replace the stock headunit with any aftermarket without any special adapters. Dash kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter and you're good to go. Be advised that the stock CD changer will not work with your new headunit. Please save yourself the cash and install it yourself. Even if they do it for free. Then you're sure it's done properly and cleanly. A first timer should do it in around 30 minutes.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
