  • Adding 2 more subs

Been through some stuff over the winter that's put my car in and out of the shop for a while but all is well now and I'm putting those 2 more 10's in this weekend. Any recommendations on what to use to put the subs in the box. Any type of woodscrew should do right? Once I'm all together I will be one happy person. I have 3 cardboard boxes sitting in my room collecting dust waiting for me to jump right in.

How many 10"s do you have now? Where do you plan on putting these and ideas on the box?

Yes, wood screws are fine. Many people say to use an uncommon type of screw (ex. Hex) to make it difficult for thieves to unscrew in a hurry. I don't really buy that though. I mean, I live in the city.... a car jacking isin't gonna last longer then a couple minutes. I doubt a thieve will be carrying a cordless screwdriver with him, so even to unscrew 8 phillips screws would take awhile. They're gonna take the whole box or none at all.... of course, those POS's would probably just punch a hole in the dust cap out of anger. Just to cause damage.

Well I'm finally putting those 2 in the subthump.com box in the car. So I'll have 3. Being that I don't have the h/o alt. as of yet I'm not putting the hiphonics amp in until then.

SO where is the box going to be for the 3rd sub? You bought the hifonics bx1000d if I remeber correctly, you don't need a h/o amp to put it in. Upgrade the big 3 and if it still gives you problems then start looking for a h/o alt.

Thats a drivers side stealth. I'm currently running a Kenwood 1200w 3/4/5 channel to power all the speakers in the car and the drivers side woofer. I bought the 1500d amp to power the 3 subs and I'm keeping the Kenwood to run in 4 channel for my speakers.

OMFG. I took my drivers stealth out to double check the wiring and its a 2ohm dvc as opposed to the 4ohm dvc's that I have in the millhouse. Now I don't know what to do... I was going to have this together 2nite too. I know I can't mix these. Should I just run one off of the KAC-650 and the other 2 off of the 1500d?

I'll be in and out from here and the driveway if there's any quick ideas shoot me an aim. alt eff foor

You can run 2 on the hifonics amp and one on the kenwood. I would not run them all on the hifonics amp because the amp will power them differntly. Do that for now and get another dvc 4 ohm.

Okay, so new problem. Ran all the power lines and such, piggy backed all the lines off of the old amp and ran them up to the new one. Power, ground, and remote. Didn't hook up the speaker inputs or outs yet just wanted to see how it looked turned on. Well I got nothing. Fuse under the hood is ok, so are the fuses in the amps. What remote voltage should I be getting, I am getting 10v dc. All my connections are tight and together. I didn't just fry my amp did I? Neither of them turn on. I did not try the hifonics alone though.

EDIT: Fixed, running 2 woofers on the hifonics and one is sitting out until i get the 4 ohm dvc that should be in there. Running 2 at ~250w per is quite a difference. Can't wait to run 3 at ~275w per. Retarded ohmage but what can I do. I'm quite happy. Trunk is still a mess so no pictures of the setup until I clean it up a tad. 96Firebird, Firefighter, and nda0602; You guys were a great help back in February when I bought it all, and march when I lost my car door. Thanks for everything. Between you guys and the car electronics store down the road everything was covered and conquered. I might not know everything about the stereo's but HVAC I've got down ;)
