  • Need some advice...

Well...I've been looking into the whole 'rip the monsoon out' idea, and upgrading the 10 speaker system. Thing is I've done a lot of research and can't find what I'm looking for...so here it is...
...Put 6.5" or 6.75" and 1" tweeters (component) in the front doors, put a single 10" in the rear with a stealthbox...I've read that it sounds best to put speakers only in the front so that there is no rear fill...seems kinda weird to go from 10 speakers to 4 (5 with the sub)...is this the best idea or should I put a 6.5" or 6.75" mid-bass in the back seats and a 4" component set in the hatch?

Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

I just couldn't live without my rear fill. I've got two pair of Infinity three ways in each corner and I've got it faded towards the front a little. I think that I hear more from the rears than from the door panels. I'd at least put a mid-range speak in the rear if not another set of separates. I'm a clarity guy, though, I don't care much for loudness.

Sound like you got the right idea. Yeah, a lot of people don't like having rear speakers. I agree with them, but only on cars with trunks. Because they are usually mounted on that "back dash" area, they really destroy any soundstage. But in our F-bodies, the rear-seat speakers are almost closer to you then the fronts! I wouldn't go without rear speakers in an F-body. But still try to keep those high frequencies from behind the listener. That means no tweets.... also no co or tri-axils. Just a plain ol' midrange/bass speaker. Like the Kicker RMB6's. And above all, nothing under the hatch. They were a horrible idea to begin with...... damn monsoon...

So components up front, mid range/bass speakers by the back seats and nothing in the far rear hatch area. Good choice with the stealth box.
