  • Will component speakers work??

Will component speakers work with a Monsoon system? My driver's side speaker went out, and figured I could go component since they use a lower RMS requirement. I was planning on getting these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....oryId=cat03079
They told me they would work, but it will not be as loud. Any opinions?? I don't feel like rewiring everything and yes I do know they are rated at 4 ohms when I need 2ohms, but they said I should still get some decent sound. Thanks

Simple answer: yes, they will work.
Complex answer: They will not be as loud as you will want them to be. You will probably end up turning the volume control on the head unit up to get the desired volume, causing the Monsoon amp to clip. This clipping is what causes the voice coils to burn up, hence blowing your speakers. So while they will work at lower volumes, they will blow at a higher volume.

Hmmm...well they are installing everything and giving me a 4 yr warr, so if they blow, they will replace them for free. But if I have it at normal listening volume I should be fine. Any other recommendations on what I could do? Thanks!!!

At a normal listening volume, the amp will be using more power though, that's what I was trying to say. It will take more power of the amp to produce the same level of power with the new speakers. And they most likely WILL blow, based on what everyone has done in the past. So, they can keep replacing them for the next for years for you if u want. And when you save up enough money, then buy a compatible HU.

the speakers that are in the back seat area are the mids... the 4" are in the very back on the 2 side panels
