• getting through the firewall??

Well I finally get to begin the finishing stages to my system. I've replaced the mids with Infinity Kapa component systems front and back and they're just running of the sony Xplode deck right now (yeah yeah I know the thoughts on sony but this deck has worked great for me for 2 years now w/o any problems). Within the next week, I'll be picking up a Phoenix Gold XS 2500 amp and JL 12-W6 sub to get me started. Later the mids will be powered by a Phoenix Gold XS 4300 amp.

Anyway, my question is this... where is the easiest way to route the power cables through the firewall?? Does anyone have any pictures of this? Should I drill from inside the car or the engine bay? I've never had this much trouble trying to run a power cable before! I'm working with a 94 3.4L Camaro. Thanks for any feedback. This is a common question, so I suggest you do a search in here for at least a dozen topics on this subject.

There is a grommet on the passenger side that most people run it thru. When I got my car, it already had a hole cut right next to the steering column, so thats' where i ran my 4 awg.

As for the sony, yes, most people in here will agree that sony decks suck the big one. But, if you've had no problems with yours in 2 years, not only are you lucky, but there's also no problem running a HU that you like and that works for you. My girlfriend's xPlod (same model as mine) works FLAWLESSLY and has never skipped once, on bumps or anything, even with CD's that mine skips on with the bass turned off and the car parked. There are a few (and I stress FEW) factory freak Sony's out there that actually work.

Good luck!

I don't know how big guage wire your running but there is a graumate under the cpu on the passanger side and another in a simular location on the drivers side. I ran 8ga through it no problem. The system I am planning to go in my Ta will probably be 4ga and I plan on going through the same hole.

I have a 3.4 also, a 95 though. I went through the grommet on the driver's side, where all the other wires go through. I didn't know there was one on the passenger side.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm sorry to ask such a common question.... I know how it is when someone comes on every week asking about different exhaust systems!

Here's my next question which may be just as dumb... (if not worse)

I bought a Rockford Fosgate multiple amp power kit today and I've never ran more then 1 amp before. here's the kit I bought http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/ezcom...essories/Full%

my question is- how do I plug all this stuff in?! I know the 4 gauge goes straight to the fuse but the fuse seems to fit 8 guage only. as for the other fuse box and splitter thingy (LOL), I'm lost

Link dont work. But the biggest pwer wire goes to the batt then the fuse. Then from the fuse into the end of the T sliter so like...

888||888
...4
...4
..Bat
then each amp gets a 8 aug.

I drilled my own hole right to the right of the steering column, basicly cause thats the only place i could fit my drill but it does the job.

Yeah I noticed the picture link didn't work. sorry about that. I'm assuming I run the 4 guage all the way to the back and then use the T-splitter to actually plug the amps in?

Most the ones iv seen only have about a foot or two of the 4 aug and have the splitter under the hood. But you can have the splitters by the amps. Shouldnt matter. Its mostly looks.

Yeah. Put a spliter(distribution block) next to your amp, then run the 8 gauge out of that to your amp. That's what I did for my two amps.

It's just something that splits the wires, kinda like a cable adapter.

Here's a kit, it's just an example:
http://crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-DJjAECcPWUw/ProdView.asp?i=575RP1733&id=morephotos &a=0&s=0

Just the d-block alone can run you about 20-30 dollars at a shop. Most come with fuses in them.
