  • I just got a FREE system in my car to be installed

Ok, so i go to these guys for them to do my tint, and they did a good job, but scratched my windshield witha razor. So instead of them replacing it, i got this idea today, brought it up to them, and they said great saves them and me money. So they are gonna pu any 2 12's i want a box and an amp for me for free, i'm so freaking happy. The windshield scratches are not even noticable so i'm like great.

So, now my question is which 12's should i get, i was thinking rockford fosgate, what do you guys thing and which.??

    thanx,

    P. S. its great that the board is back up

Jl W3's are awesome....And I have heard a single 8" solobaric by Kicker in a Maxima hit a 150 some odd. So with the right box, you could get a 10" Solo and a BIG amp, maybe the JL 500/1 and hit VERY VERY hard. Or if you want clean and big bass, JL is a good mixture of the two.

Well I'm the local Eclipse fanatic so....I say you get some 10" or 12" Eclipse Aluminum or Titanium subs with a Phoenix Gold amp or something! As for the box, just get something that fills in the hatch nicely. :D

The square L7 solo's are good SPL subs and the JL's are a good mix b/w SPL and SQ. The Eclipse subs are better quality IMHO that either one of those, besides they look soooooo much cooler! ;)

I worked as an installer for 2 years

Sorry to say but the is NO WAY IN HE11 that one 8 inch SOLOBARIC hit 150 db

I have been to many competitions that were sponsered by our shop and Personally we had a suv with 12 solobaric 10"s and 4 rockford 800a2 power amps that only hit 152 db's

If you want sound quality go with the JL's or Eclipse(these require a pretty good bit of power)

Rockfords are good for price and don't require much power.

Solobarics are strictly a competion sub. The L7 is set up to play one note really really loud, all other notes sound like crap. If you like to listen to rock the L7 is definatly not you choice

Infinty perfect is a good sub as well as the Memphis line of subs

I have two alpine type R 12"s in a Q logic box and they produce excellent sound quality and very deep bass

          just My 2 cents

            A misunderstanding or a lie.

Also false. I will admit the L7's don't have the best SQ out there, but that statement is misleading. They can play a wide range of tones just like any other sub, it just depends on the install. It's all in the install.

I not trying to bust on you, but 152 sounds a little low. Were they the L7 (square) or the older solobarics (circle)?? I have 3 10"s and 1000watts and do 145s. You have a great deal more power and ATLEAST 4X the cone area. (more if they were square) I would say 157ish should not be out of reach.

Rockford Fosgate makes some great products. Go with the HX2's unless they will let you get ANYTHING you want. In that case the JL W7 would easily be the best choice. What other products does the shop carry?

Solobarics are not the best "SQ" subs. It hits you hard at around 60 hz. I don't like a subwoofer that is louder at one frequency then at others. But I do love a loud sub, and solobarics are just that. A lot of people that love rap and bass music love this sub.

I imagine that the Power HX's sound something like the older Punch Power subwoofers. A single punch power 15 is a great loud sub, and it plays pretty deep in a ported box.

My good buddy challenged his coworker with a Honda, which featured three ported JL10W6's and a 1000 watt MTX amp. He has a single Power 15, and a Rockford 800a2. The 15 shook the walls at his workplace. The three 10's sounded great, but it wasn't ear throbbing and didn't make it really hard to breathe like the 15 did.

If you want a true loud sub that can give you loudness and good even transient response, look into a Rockford Power sub.
