Is it possible for a amp to blow a speaker? I have sony's in my back two speakers in the back seat, and I still have my factory radio, so I had to hook up my amp to the high input, I used the rear speaker wire and spliced into them, my passanger side speaker stoped working, all wires are conected and everything, is it possible to blow them from the amp?(300 watt amp)

Also, does anyone know what the back two subs sizes are on the monsoon sound system? I was thinking about buying the covers that they connect to and put some aftermarket speakers on them, mainly so it will look better then my 10" enclosed speaker sitting in the middle of the hump.

Well, as far as it being a 300 watta mp...Power doesn't really blow speakers, distortion does. What kind of amp is it? If you had a lot of distortion, whether or not you heard it, more power + distortion = blown speakers.

Its a jensen amp, and I ussually keep the amp turned up about half way, but the only wires i haven't check are the two wires acctually touching the speakers in the back, the only way I can see them Is to take out the speaker, which was a b!tch to put in, I just thought I'd ask this incase, because a friend told me that the amp could blow the speaker, but then again, he doesn't know a whole lot about all that either.

That sux! I hate problems like that, because you'll need to diagnose it to find what went wrong. Is any wires touching any part of the chassis? Or power wires? You'll need to double check your amp's wiring. Also, make sure that the speaker wire is connected to the speaker.

Is it your front passanger, rear passanger, or trunk speakers that blew?

I think the speakers in the back seat panels are 6 1/2. They are in my car, not sure about anything above a 95.

As for the amp, I wouldn't use a Jensen... they are way underrated!

are you sure the wires didn't pull out of the back of the speakers when you shut the doors? Mine used to do that, so I had to lenthen the wire.

They don't, because I conected my wires to the old ones, right there at the speaker.

Agreed on the Jensen comment. Those amps kind of aren't good. I have a Clarion 4 channel for sale. It is WAY cleaner than Jensen, and has more power too. More power + clean = nice sound. I have been using it to power all 4 of my mid-range speakers. E-mail me if yuo wanna see a picture.

it all depends on what you want...are you going for sq or spl?

If you want a cheap yet reliable amp get something by Rockford. I dont like RF too much but they arent too expensive.

My Jensen 4 channel is a nice amp. You could run it on subs, or highs. It has it all as fara s cross-overs and whatnot. Since I got it while I worked at best buy, I can let it go pretty cheap too. E-mail me at craft146@home.com if you wanna know more.
