  • Just had a complete system installed

I'm still new to the whole sound system thing but this is what I have:

    Panasonic CD/MP3 Player- CQ-DP171U
Plays Mp3 Cds and has all the little volume controls and such. (High tech lingo!)

    4 Panasonic 2Way Speakers- CJ-DC161

2 JL10w0's in a hatchback box that sits right in the rear window.

I have one PlanetAudio 300 watt amp for the subs.

It hits pretty hard. You can hear it from pretty far away. Only problem is I think they left the little 6" sub from my bose system hooked up. Everything sounds great but that one little 6" sub distorts and sounds nasty. I'm going to take it back whenever the snow stops and I can drive again so they can remove the little sub.
I'll try to get some pictures of everything tomorrow (no school cause of snow :D ).

Hey JL AUDIO makes a 6'' sub! You ought to go back to the dealer that you bought the JL's from and ask how much for one of them.

Do you have a hookup at this place; or will they charge you to take it out? It's really not that difficult. I was a newbie w/ car audio not too long ago. Try doing it yourself.. you'll learn something. So much more satisfaction doing it yourself. :D

It's Extreme Audio in Somerset if you've ever heard of it. They know me pretty well and I have a warantee on everything they did. I don't think they'll charge me to take it out. I might, as naptown suggested, replace that little sub with the JL 6" sub. I'm not sure how that would sound with my 2 10's though.

If you have 2 good 10's, you've pretty much got all the good frequencies you'll hear covered. Not a bad idea if it would not cost much, but i honestly don't think you'll get much more from a 6 (w/ 2 10's already in). In other words, everything the 10's are putting out (sound wise) is going to overpower one 6. So i don't see the need to spend more $$ for it. But hey, it would make a good experiment! Let us know.
