Hello I'm new to this message board. I just got a 2002 Camaro. It has the stock system (not monsoon) in it, it does not sound to bad for stock but I want to add two 10's and an amp in it. What would you guys recommend for me. I have a tight budget and can spend up to 500 but would like to spend less than that. Also what box can I use in this car, or does anyone have plans on how to build a box for it. Thanks for any help.

Heres what you do gotto Hereto get a stealth box to fit perfectly into our cars(Camaro/Firebird)! Then gotto Here to get your sub! You only need one subwoofer for our cars to hit really hard! Also I would recomend getting a nice amp from there also. These sites are very trustworthy! Everyone else on this board will tell you the same. The sub I would recomend is Alpine Type-R 10'' Only one will kill! Then get a Nice Alpine Amp on eBay for around 150. Here are the prices:

100$-10'' Alpine Sub
150$-200watt RMS mono amp
125$-Passenger Side Stealth Box

P.S. Welcome to the neighborhood.

No RMS=continuous power 200 watts of continuous power to push the sub. Alpine MRP-M200 is the series. Stay away from amps such as Profile,Sony,Crunch,BOSS,etc. If you gotto a chinese shop aka flea market and see a brand that isnt Alpine or Rockford Fosgate or Kenwood eXcelon dont buy it. Also go with NAME BRAND products only!

Crunch?!?! I hate to tell you this, but Crunch=Hifonics and Hifonics makes awesome amps. I have yet to meet someone that is disapointed with Hifonics equipment. I have a older Crunch V600 amp that rocks! I bought it used from a friend that pounded the crap out if it for 2 years and I have had it for a year and it still stong as ever. He had 2 V600's and 4 Crunch Fatboy subs and took the louded truck on the Fl westcoast for 2 years. Although the new Crunch amps aren't as good as the old ones, they are still decent, and far from crap. There are a lot of good stuff that besides Kenwood, RF and Alpine.

As to answer your question, I would recomend finding a decent, honest stereo shop and talk to them, they generally have much better prices on equipment than Best Buy or stores like that. Also STAY AWAY FROM JENSON!

I hate to tell you this, but Crunch = CRAP. I've owned an "800"WattX2 @4ohms channel (400 per channel) Crunch amp and it sounded alright, but buy no means breathtaking. It only had a 40 amp fuse... that should tell you something to start with. The crunch was also rated at 1600(800x2)@2 ohms So if you reverse the math.. 38 amps (less than 40 to not blow the fuse) * 13.8 = 524 absolute peak watts on an amp rated at "1600".

Next, when I decided to go with a better amp, I replaced the amp with a Rockford Fosgate Punch Power 500a2. "1100" less watts (and comes with a 50 amp fuse), and it cost over 3 times as much as the crunch. Ironicaly, it hits just about 3 times as hard as the Crunch did with the exact same subs. But that's not all..... The Rockford is rated at 500x2 (250 per channel) at 2 ohms.. I'm running 4 ohm subs, so I'm only pushing 125 per channel. And it still hits MUCH MUCH harder than the Crunch did at "400" @ 4 ohms per channel. So I'm feeding the subs just under 1/4 the rated power as the crunch and it's still hitting 2 - 3 times as hard. In my opinion that makes the punch 8-12 TIMES better than the Crunch.

This is all with the subs & wiring remaning constant with 2 Pioneer 4ohm 12's in a small sealed box, with 4awg wire.

The cheapest, but still quality, amp right now is the JBL BP series. You can get the JBL BP300.1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1950573773
it will put out about 350WRMS @ 2 ohms but is stable down to 1 ohm. Or for about $50 more, you can get double the power so you can have room to upgrade later...
JBL BP600.1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1950573836
And don't worry about buying of Ebay from that seller. Just look at the feedback rating!!

If you want to keep your system all Alpine... go with the:
MRP-M200 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1949680826 that will put out about 220WRMS @ 2ohms. For a little more power and a few more features, try the MRD-M300 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1950591208 it will put out about 320WRMS @ 2ohms. You can also check out www.ikesound.com for the same amps... they are usual pretty cheap there.

Should what be your first step? A new head unit or the sub&amp combo? If you choose to keep your stock head unit, you will need something called a line output converter to power your amp. Either way I would recommend getting a new head unit.......... Listen to me when I say this..... BY FAR... THE BEST HEAD UNIT FOR THE MONEY NOW is the Alpine CDA-7892. (period) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1948970618
The key is the Bass Engine Plus features. Tell me where you will get the time correction feature for $200 ????? Nowhere. Not even close.

Hope this helps!!

the profile mono amp is very good. my girlfriend has on on 2 12'' infinitys. 410 watts at 2 ohms and its cheap and that has 3 20 amp fuses which 60 x 13.8 = 828 watts so rethink that. I think hers was 129 but ikesound has them for 95 w/ free shipping.

It's VERY easy. I recommend you install all your own gear and save the money. I think the kit number is 99-3300.

I know you said the Alpine CDA-7892 is the best for the money. Is it worth it to upgrade to the CDA-7893? The only reason I see to do that is that the H/U looks better. Please let me know what you think of this H/U.
