• Sub box...no one informed me

So i am going to change my set up for my audio system, including my subs. I am lucky enough to work at a shop so i get really good prices and can do this. So here is my question. I was looking at subthump.com and i noticed i can do a 10 in the drivers and passangers side or 2 10s in the milhouse. It think the milhouse is nice, but aren't the others more efficent? Cause first they take no space and second the milhouse gives each sub .6 cub ft, while the driver and passanger give .6 on the drivers and .7 on the passanger. So wouldn't it be louder if i were to do the boxes on the side, not to metion when i do the on the sides i have the opertuinty to do 1 10 and 12, and like i said before more trunk space. So what i am asking is for those with the milhouse why did you go with that over the driver passanger set up?
And then does anyone have the t-top holder box...that should be a beast giving you 1.1 cub ft for each sub!(plus it is angled at the glass) How does it work both in sound and in holding the tops? Do the tops rattle alot?

^^^ andy they would have to be closer together for this to happen. I would get the t top box because it looks the best and out of those even tho steve's box's are great I still think the box in the "well" sounds better.

ive got a t-top box. it's well worth the money. ive got 2 elemental designs 12's and a NINe.1 amp
im running about 900 watts rms through the subs. with the t-top it pounds like crazy. i havent heard a box in a f-body with a similar setup(2-12's) sound better. it also looks alot better. my buddys got just a generic box with 2 audio bahn 12s. it looks ok but not great plus he has a hard time shutting the hatch.

^ try crutchfield.com ..they're a little pricey but they have EVERYTHING and are one of the best web sites i've ever done business with...i've had 3 different setups...they all kicked @ss...i've had a 10" in each side of the ttop well...i had a dual 10" q-logic box that sat on the rear deck...and my last one was a 10" in the ttop well along with my dual 12" setup (which is still for sale!) ...properly powered with the proper cub ft they'll all ROCK

Look no further

Ender, if storage space is really important to you, then I suggest a dual 10" stealth boxes. Keep in mind that you will need to ditch your spare tire and jack to use the pass side box. If you're willing to give up the space for more bass, then obviously a dual 12" t-top box would rock your world.

not totaly ture I guy that I work with just got done making me a cumstom box for my camaro and the two 12s face each other and don't cancle out at all. If anything they are boosting each other. Now I'm not staying that all subs facing each other will do this I'm guessing its just a weird enomily. I think it has something to do with how they are wiered together. But then again I'm not a car stero expert.

Don't subs work off of vibrations and sound waves, so i don't see how the waves would ever cancel eachother out.

The phoenomenom is called wave cancellation. it does not happen as noticably with L/R stereo speakers because the respective speakers are putting out different signals (wave forms) from the different instruments (stereo mix) to the respective speakers. If you add redundant stereo speakers (front/rear) you can experience wave cancellation from the two (f/r) rights and lefts as the same wave forms are hitting your ears at the same time...but from different distances, (below/above median wave line) canceling out each other. (this is where surround sound departs as it is different signals from the rear vs front)
It is typical to have a sub run off of a mono feed or a combined stereo to mono feed. I am not sure yet how the monsoon amp pumps the two sail panel subs...(left/right base or two mono base lines)
Most modern music mixes the bass and kick drum in center pan. I guess what I am saying is if you can achieve the desired power output with one sub...that is the best, safest choice to avoid wave cancellation. Low base wave forms are dramaticaly longer and much more resilient than higher hz wave forms so it is more important to orient tweeters directly toward ear if possible than it is to orient sub toward listening area. Hence putting the sub backwards or side ways in the trunk still pounds the car and passenger environment.

Take to two stock sail panel subs for instance...one is directly behind driver (2 feet) and the other is about 3-4 feet away. Those waves are so low in hz that they bounce around and do not die easily. the longer the wave reflects around more it's tone changes everytime a wave enters your ear. different tones at different times = no wave less wave canceleation.

When in doubt stick to stereo field with one primary sub orientation. However, placement/redundancy matters more with midrange and tweeters than it does with low band such as subs.
Check it out. play with fader...hear those symbols disappearing when you are near equal mix/distance with front/rear stereo speakers but the base is still there.
