  • 94 camaro starts and stalls, VATS issue?

Hi, i´m new on this forum, i was looking for the introductions forum but i couldnt find it, so, hello guys!

I´m a Ford guy, but recently got my hands into a 94 camaro v6 auto, got it dirt cheap because it wont stay running, it has all sort of things that have to be taken care of but hey, i got it for next to nothing and tought of it as a cheap daily driver.

Thing is, i just can´t figure out what the hell is wrong with this car, it already had a VATS bypass made with some resistors, but i suspect that the vats module is shot (TDM module), Security light wont flash, blink or do anything, it doesn´t light up, replaced the light bulb on the cluster and still nothing..

I can hear the pump priming and have checked the fuel pressure, it shows 41PSI key on, engine off.

The car starts, but only stays running a couple of seconds and dies.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Could be so many things. I'm not to familiar with the vats operation but before I would get involved with that I would check the overall condition of the car. Pull all spark plugs clean and gap or replace. Check the fuel make sure its not old or there is any water in the tank. The 3.4 is notorious for the broken vacuum line fitting at the plenum. Its the large 3 port fitting right in front of the upper intake. Also check the map sensor fittings mounted on the upper intake on the passenger side and your pcv valve. Are you getting good spark at the plugs?

i had a problem like this on my 3.4 camaro. Turned out to be a faulty wire in the ignition system. Mechanic wired a switch in to turn the ignition on and the problem was solved.
