Background:
2001 F'bird, 3800 3.6.
A little over a year ago, my Brake Light and ABS INOP light came on and have yet to go off. No big deal until I went for the inspection today.
The brakes work fine, the e'brake works fine.
I've searched through the threads and here is what all I've tried.
1) took the console off (not as hard as I thought it might be) and cleaned / checked the little switch at the base of the e'brake. This is not the problem.
2) pulled the ABS sensor wires from the backs of both front wheels. cleaned, checked continutiy of the wires as best I could. This does not seem to be the problem
3) pulled all of the grounds I could find and cleanded them.
4) cleaned the battery terminals
5) topped off the brake fluid reservoir (it really wasn't low)
Good news. I replaced the bulb on the console that has been burned out forever...also pulled old fries / change from around the console.
Bad news. Still have the lights on the dash. Car is due for inspection at the end of Dec.
Any new ideas folks?
Thx.
