Ok I am going to ask a question that has been bugging me for a while.....

I am getting ready to put a transmission in my car (1996 auto) Car is stock. I was woundering if a standard set of ramps is going to get this thing off the ground high enough to get the trans out or if I have to get it higher... I am going this weekend to pick up a transmission and I plan on doing this over the next few days/weeks/ However long it takes...

    Thanks for the help

          Re: Trans swap

When I did mine I went to Lowe's and bought cinder blocks for like $2 a piece and then stacked them under the wheels... Jack it up, put one level of cinder blocks under wheels, same to rear, then put your jack on a layer of cinder blocks and lift again and put another level of cinder blocks etc...

Thanks All for the help.... T-Mill did you have a problem with the car wanting to roll off the blocks after you removed the drive line? Or is the e-brake good enough to hold it in place? On a side note about hosw much does the 4l60e weigh? Thanks again for all the help..

the e-brake should be fine, but i give him credit for doing that, as when i jack my car up to put them on jackstands it leans over so much i can probably flip the car over

i have no idea on the weight, but i would assume around 120 pounds or so
