  • Installing rear axel bearings?

Well apparently this is what has caused my brakes to fail. There is no bearing left from what I can tell. I can move the axel about a half inch in every direction... So of course my rotor has been able to move all over the place and into my caliper...

Am I correct in assuming its the bearing? Any tips or anything I should watch for when taking apart or installing?

The bearing is definitely one problem, and the bearing surface on the axle is sure to be damaged beyond repair, so expect to buy a new axle. Also pay close attention to the carrier where the axle slides into it. I would remove the carrier and check it very carefully for cracks or excessive wear.
