  • t5 problem any ideas?

my trans seems great but i have a problem with 3rd gear it feels a little weird going in and it occasionaly pops out of gear but the big problem is when i put it in 3rd some of the time it grinds and pushes it out of gear and then it will go in, or you can feel it jump a tooth or a few teeth and then go in it only does it in 3rd what would be causing it?

What would you recomend for fixing it? i am 95%sure im puting a cam in this summer and about 75% sure on a 75 shot of n2o so i want it to be able to hold that power i know the t5's are weak

so what is wrong with it? and is there an temporary fix or something?

i was looking at g-force parts if i ordered those what all should i get?

or what are my other options?

Swap a automatic in and you'll be fine unless you go with G-Force. I shattered 3rd gear when I ran my Powerdyne about 4-5 years ago.

syncro is out... T56 time! 4L60e

More fun to shift. SSMS is right, auto will take quite a bit of power...

getting a t56 would require you to put some REALLY low gears to actually get the car to move

i have heard that a lot of people buy trans parts off of this guy, and like him: http://www.thegearbox.org/T5.html

ive bought parts from the gear box. great service. other than g force that would help. gforce parts run nearly 1700 if you get everything. just get hardened input shaft, billet synchro keys and bronze fork pads and that will last alot longer than stock. plus getting the torque arm off the trans helps even more.
