Re: Ratchet Shifter
I'll be putting an aftermarket shifter in my TA with a TH350. Currently I'm running the stock shifter, but I can't race it with that unless I want to accidently shift into neutral at 7200rpm. I'll most likely use the Hurst Quarterstick, which is a gate style shifter, not a ratchet shifter. I went with the gate style over the ratchet because I don't want to deal with the issues of the ratchet getting out of adjustment and such. Also, to get into 1st gear in a forward valvebody, you'd have to put it into drive, then shift down 3 times to get to first (or twice in my 3 speed). Believe me it'd get old real quick. Of couse with an automatic valvebody, you wouldn't HAVE to go all the way down to first in order to drive, so it might not be that bad.-Travis
99 Trans Am, Pewter, A4 Forged, stalled, and cammed
85 Buick Regal WH1 T-Type It\'d be cool if it ran...
94 Camaro 3.4, Teal, M5 The daily beater
