  • p1870 wooooo hooo

I have had this p1870 code for the last 10-15k miles and from what I gather I have a few solutions. I can replace trans with a new one for $2000 total (trans, labor, tax) which includes 300,000 mile warranty. I could also just update the valve body for about $300 - $400 total, but I hear that is just a temporary fix. My question is to people who have updated the valve body, how long have you had it fixed like this? or how long did it last? I'm assuming each case varies depending on the extent of the damage to the transmission caused by this problem. I have no idea what else is damaged in my trans but the symptoms I'm experiencing are hard shifts from 1st to 2nd after long drives on the interstate but all of the gears still work, even when it gets hot.

i just fixed mine this weekend. it was the valve for the torque convert that was bad in the valve body and very simple to do. it cost me $18 for the part and $10 for gasket and filter. And w/e the tranny fluid was. Fixed my car and now i have a torque converter again.

      Re: p1870 wooooo hooo

I'm starting to get hard shifts from 1-2 sometimes and recently got a P1870 code.

Choppers, what did you do? Is there a write up somewhere?

      Thank you.

^ Do what he did. Easiest thing to do, and the cheapest. If you wanted you could throw a shift kit in and it should help it. But $18 dollar part will do it, Night and day difference.

How hard is this to do? I've got the $18 part on order but have no idea what to do with it when it arrives.
