identify 95 vs 96-97 3.8L 4L60E trans

    identify 95 vs 96-97 3.8L 4L60E trans

    Hi, I am trying to figure out whether the 4L60E trans I have is from a 95 or a 96-97 3.8L.

    It is a one piece bellhousing and the numbers on the tag are:
    7FBD
    24201596

    Any help would be appreciated.

    couldnt tell you which, but i can tell you the electronics changed from 95 to 96.

      3.8 Trans Are Stamped 5fcd
      3.4 Trans Stamped 5fdd
      1996
      3.08 Trans Are Stamped 6fbd
      3.42 Trans Are Stamped 6fcd
      1997
      3.42 Stamped 7fcd
      3.08 Stamped 7fbd

      you notice the number change with year model. also the diffrence between the 3.08 and 3.42 transmissions is the torque converter.

        so it will fit or not? and which has the better verter? I have a 1995 3.4 camaro just swapped in 3.73 gears and my tranny has been slipping 4l60e, will the 4l60e out of a 01 camaro work? a 98 99 00 ?

          pretty sure the bell houseings are diffrent between the 3800 cars and the 3.4 cars
