So i am rebuilding my transmission, for $400 extra i can convert them to a 2.94 first through third and input shaft and change the OD so it's more like the g-force ratios. I do not plan on putting on any crazy power adders just intake headers exhaust tuned computer and taller rear end. Does it make that much of a difference to justify the cost or should i stay with the stock ratios. Also how would that affect mpg?

Re: T5 transmission ratios stock 3.75, vs. 2.94 worth it????
in theory, if you go lower gears 1-4 and a tall 5th you should get better MPG and the city, while the tall 5th could drop your cruising RPMS to 1800 or so at 65ish.
just as a note, my stock geared ( tranny and rear end ) car got 37.8 MPG all highway on my way out to cleavland and back. doing 65-70mph1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.

I'm wondering if it would drop your 1/4 mile times and improve your acceleration, enough to justify the 400 extra dollars. Or do you need power adders or a significant amount more torque for those gears to be effective?
