  • going from 2 series to 3 series is it that easy?

i bought a 3 series posi from a 95 Z and i want to put it in my 95 v6 that has a series 2, i also have a gear set for a 3 series, can i just swap everything in or will i need any special adapters or spacers? also is there anyway to inspect the posi unit? i bought it off a forum and it is said to have 95K on it, i would like to make sure its good before i put it in.

You'll need a dial indicator and magnetic base for checking backlash on the ring gear. You'll also need some type of pinion depth tool. You can disassemble the LSD and make sure the cones (*if its an Auburn) or clutches (if it an Eaton) aren't scored or worn out. You can't use the 3 series with the 2 series gears. You don't need any adapters to swap everything. You may need to use the anti lock brake ring off your 2 series if the 3 series doesn't have one.
