im swapping my 2000 engine/tranny into a 1997 body. ive got the engine in, and tranny bolted to it, and im using the 97 crossmember to try and hold the back end of the tranny up but it doesnt fit! the hole in the crossmember is 1" further forward to the front of the car than the bolt that is coming from the transmission is. anyone ever run across this problem? im assuming i have to find some way to fab it up to work? or maybe buy a different crossmember? help!
yeah, those cross members are different. from 98-02 they used a slightly different one. i tried looking up the part # on gmpartsdirect, but they dont have it anymore.
95-97:
98-02
well this sucks, i JUST ordered a 98-02 crossmember for my '94 transmission. great.

i have both a 2000 and 1997 crossmember, the 2000 crossmember wont work at all, the underbody holes where it bolts in are different... the 1997 crossmember is close, but its off just enough that it wont work without some sort of custom fabrication.
