  • What the hell? Mount issue.

Well, driving down the road today, I noticed that when I launched from a stoplight, there was a heavy thud and a little bit of vibration. The same effect could be achieved by power braking. Well, when I looked under the car, here's what I found. The transmission mount is completely split into 2 halves. Busted. Gone! Turns out when I punch the gas, the transmission is torquing up and hitting the underside of the car. Auto Zone wants 50 bucks for a hydraulic one. I don't think so! Advance just switched brands, so they don't have a price yet. Would a transmission mount for a 3rd Gen model work? Or a transmission mount from any other particular cars, for that matter? The one for the 3rd Gen was like $9. Anyways, here's a decent photo. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, its the light colored metal thing just to the right of the middle of the picture.

get a energy suspension poly one or a 1le one

With the poly you will have to add a few washers to raise it a bit but you will never blow it out

it is a factory bushing that is stronger than a stock v6 bushing. Came on 1le v8 cars.

I have a 1993 Automatic 3.4L Camaro. As for the mount, I got one. I'm installing it tomorrow. As for it being dirty, yeah...it is. During the summer months in GA, we have a lot of rain, especially in the afternoon.

Go to autozone spend 20 bucks on an Energy Suspension trans mount, spend 20 minutes installing it and save some money.

Well, here's what happened. I looked at a cheaper transmission mount, because I really didn't want to spend 30 to 50 bucks on one. Hydraulic or otherwise. So seeing as GM has a really good habit of keeping things universal, I tried one from a 92 V6 Camaro. In case some here don't know, 92 was the last year of the third gen. It costed 8 bucks and fit in perfectly. Actually, the U joints on the drive shaft lined up better than before.

did you use one like this .........http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...ype=38&PTSet=A

the v6 mounts are kinda round and the 1le's are more rectangle. i have a 1le on mine and it fit perfect. a friends mount is broken and the $6 mount sounds better than a $50 mount. just wondering if thats the style/shape you used. thanks

Yeah, almost exactly like that, but mine had a black rubber piece right under the bolt and above the metal plate and the bolt holes were slotted for adjustment instead of being just one size. I'm assuming that has rubber slab in it, it's just painted over. Yeah, that's almost exactly what I used. It slid right in place.
