Sorry, not in my tech manual.

Have to guess transmission type code. For my tech manual (95-98 3.8L) 1810, 1811, 1860, and 1887 are all related to automatic transmission.

?2001, you should have a warranty. I'd take it to your local dealer and have them pull the code.

do you mean p1870? trans component slipping.
the pcm has detected that the trans input shaft speed (rpm)exceeds output speed (vss) by more than is expected. may be electrical problem. may also be clogged trans filter = low main line pressure. may also be trans pressure control solenoid.
if you know little about trans, take to dealer or repair shop. you may want to clear code, service trans (change fluid and filter) and see if code sets again. couldn't hurt. are you still getting all gears?

this is the same problem i'm having right now. I'm getting ready to buy a new Boost valve, (and i'm also going to put a shift kit in and servo while i've got it open) but anyway, the .005" boost valve and sleeve is supposed to remedy this problem. go to http://www.kdsperformance.com they have the boost valve. hope this helps.
