Dealership won't do it...I have already checked. You will need to get the computer recalibrated by someone like Ed Wright if he will do it. It will be expensive, but it will correct the problem.

Most dealerships do not have the equipment to recalibrate the computers which is where the work would have to be done.

Most dealerships can't, and won't if they can. It has to be something really unusual...like the PCM lost the old VIN or something, then they could reflash it. They have to go through GM to get a new VIN or to get a code or clearance or something, so they can't do it for gear swaps. Only when they HAVE to.

that's weird, today i called both the dealership in my town and the one that's in a town 30 minutes away and they both said they'd do it for an hours work=~$60 so maybe the dealerships in ya'lls town just suck of course, ya'lls dealerships may not try and screw you over $400 like mine tried to...unfortunately, i was smarter than their whole staff and not only got the parts for free, but they didn't want me to complain to their boss that they were trying to screw me over--so i got completely free 4 hours of service.

Evan, double check that they know that it is an electronic speedo and not cable driven. Cable driven speedos can be recalibrated without getting into the computer programming. In order to recalibrate our speedos, you would have to reprogram the computer, especially with the 3.4L V6, which I do not think the dealerships have the capability to do.

Slp has made a processor that will do this. it is a bit pricey but is adjustable if you change gears again or wheel size or anything. Here's the link

same response i was getting UNTIL i actually went into details and explained to them what was going on. both chevy dealerships that told me they would recalibrate it beforehand told me they could not do it after i explained the whole ordeal in great detail to them. one guy said he MIGHT could do it if my car was ABLE (whatever the hell that means--he said he would have to get my VIN and send it in to GM to test and see if the pcm on it has the capability of being reprogrammed--he said not all cars came with the option of changing pinion ratios) and he said that if my car was ABLE then he would TRY to do it, but might get caught by his supervisor and then he would not be able to finish it. he gave me a figure of $200 to TRY to do this. so i'm just selling my whole frickin setup. things just suck sometimes :(

Just get a Y87 PCM out of a yunk yard for under $100. I got mine for $80. I'm sure speedauto has some PCMs.

so from a 3.08 to 3.42, the car will shift sooner, right? does that mean that i will lose power because my car won't be able to take itself up to redline or near it...or does that not mean that at all..???
