  • LSD and new gears...

    So... i am getting a new rear-end off a z28..
    what i want to know is what are the BENEFITS of limited slip differential (LSD)??

    and what are the benefits (other less gas mileage ;) ) from a change in 3.08gears to 3.42?

    lsd=both tires spin
    3.42 gears makes a huge diff in launching capabilities...knocks a .6 diff in your e.t.

    gas mileage won't go down much if at all, it all depends on how you drive.

      Well, I just did mine. Went from 3.23 open differential, to 3.42 and LSD.....You can accelerate through turns much better, as far as racing straight line, you can launch at higher RPM's without spinning the tires to 60' as easily. I feel it is better for my low end performamnce, but my average trap speed has fallen.
