  • Lightweight Flywheel

I was looking in my new RK SPORT mag and it has a lightweight flywheel. It says the stock flywheel is 30 pounds and the lightweight is only 8 pounds. I think this would be a good mod but would it fit? They say it will fit the LT1 and LS1 any chance for us v6's?

Nope, the fly on the V8 is larger than the one on the 6. The only option I know of for a light flywheel is to have the stock one lightened. SPEC (Star clutches) lightened mine. It cost $150 for the lightening, plus shipping both ways. However mine was the first one they'd done, and they found a natural imbalance in it. They had to do alot more work to keep the imbalance the way it was. They may charge more for it for any others they do, I haven't heard of anyone else doing this so I don't know. They only got about 5lbs off of mine, but that's a pretty good amount for a flywheel. I could only imagine what kind of difference an aluminum fly would make.

      Building the Tom Henry RS
Part 4: Suspension Mods, Tires, Wheels, Headers and other Cool Stuff.
      By: Hib Halverson

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
