  • Towing -- a race car

Yeah yeah, I know the Camaro is a race car. But I've been comtemplating another one. No, off the top of my head I don't know how much a F500 and trailer and gear would weigh, or worse yet an enclosed trailer with mini workbench.

OK, I don't know much about towing. But I wouldn't think twice (as in, do it in a heartbeat) about towing some autocross wheels and gear, that seems lightweight enough. But when do we (as Camaros, or as sedans, as small trucks, as big friggin' trucks) run into problems with towing. Specifically, would it be ok to tow about ... 1000? lbs, would I run through the clutch faster, motor / tranny heat up ...

I could tow it with the family SUV (Blazer), but I'm thinkin about the Camaro. No snide remarks, if the tow hitch tows a race car, it tows a race car.

EDIT: I WANT TO tow a small formula car with the Camaro

    Thanks!

didn't help enough. edit 2: I know the capacity is 1000lb. Can I expect to destroy clutches / tranny /rear?

I used to race a Formula Ford.

If I had your choice I'd use the SUV in a heartbeat. Not so much because I'd worry about wearing out the Camaro but because it would be so much easier and cheaper to handle everything. Tires, tools, spares, canopy for the track (It does rain), comfortable stuff for the track. Trying to put it all into a trailer would mean an expensive trailer that would be harder to tow. If you're going racing, you're about to experience a lack of money :D .
