• How to replace axle bearings?

Yes.. I know this much:

Remove pumpkin, paddle bolt, paddle, c-clips and pull axles out..

Once the axles are out.. remove the axle seals.. do the bearings just come out or are they pressed in?

I'd like to do this tommorow when I change teh 4.10 differential fluid..

FYI.. My 4.10's are whiney... deep pattern for strenght.. I just did Zach's 4.10's and they are SILENT.. deep pattern as well. Same gears to.. GM Motive, both brand new.

to my knowledge, they are pressed in. i've changed a few axle bearings on imports and they have all been pressed in, but am not sure if chevrolet is the same. if you are changing them anyway, they can be broken off if you don't want to go pay to get them pressed off.

also, what depth did you set both gears? "deep pattern" doesn't define much for me. even .01 can make a big noise difference

With 85W140 fluid backlash is ~.008

I know i can pop them out... however how hard is it to put them in? I don't see how they can be pressed into the rear end per se like they are on the pinion.

Are you talking about differential axle bearings or wheel bearings?

From LS1.com

You can buy new wheel bearings and seals at NAPA or most any auto parts stores. The bearing presses into the axle housing, it is not pressed onto the axle like cars I have owned in the past. I found a tool somewhere on the internet that fits on the end of a slide hammer to pull the bearing out. You have to drive the new one back into the housing. I used a piece of pipe a tad smaller than the bearing to drive the new ones in.

Awesome!!

FYI, I searched these sites:
camaroz28.com
ls1tech.com
ls1.com

You have better search skills than I. Thanks.
