Well this topic has been posted about 100 times, that is why you aren't getting a response.

Anyway, I am happy with my Spec Stage II, the Stage III is overkill for the street without any major power adders.

Unless you are putting out over 350HP with that turbo, I think that the Stage II will be fine.

Dave at SPEC would know better.

Do a search or email me for more SPEC contact info.

Just for future referrence, the main point of this thread was to discuss the actual CLUTCH MATERIALS. I wanted to know what the different properties of Kevlar, Ceramic and Carbon are.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to come off like an arse.

I've got this off Thunder Racing.

Stage 1 - A Stage 1 clutch is a great upgrade from stock for street use and will hold 400 horsepower. Stage 1 clutches include a metal backed / organic faced disk.

Stage 2 - Stage 2 clutches are recommended for mildly upgraded vehicles with a power adder. A segmented Kevlar disk is used on the Stage 2 clutch kits.

Stage 3 - Stage 3 clutches come with a sprung center disk with pads. The pads are available with a Kevlar disk or carbon disk, which will hold 680 horsepower, or or a ceramic disk, which will hold 700 horsepower.

Stage 4 - Stage 4 clutches are not recommended for street use due to their aggressive nature. A rigid disk and carrier are used in combination with your choice of Kevlar, carbon or ceramic pads.

This might not help you too much. I was told that the S2 would last the longest.

Your best bet would be to talk to SPEC directly.

I sent an email asking that same question and this is the response I got. I think I am going to get the carbon disk.

            ------------------------------------------------

            Bruce,

The description is slightly incorrect. Kevlar is not an option for Stage III, just carbon and ceramic. The only difference between the 2 materials is aggressiveness. Both are fine
for daily street driving and offer good clutch life. The ceramic will handle about 8% more torque, but it will accelerate flywheel wear a bit
more. My personal opinion is the ceramic is the way to go if you want the most capacity, and the carbon would be the way to go if you are well within its limits.
