• A4 V6 tranny in V8 conversion

I was curious, does anyone know how to have a new housing fabricated for the V6 auto transmission to make it bolt up to a V8? I have enough money put into mine that I'd like to keep it if I could. But my 3.4 is too tired.

Not only the bellhousing will be different, but the electrical connections and starter mount might. You might be better off getting an engine/trans combo. Talk to the good trans shop about it. Make sure you get it in writting that it will fit.

It's an automatic, there is no belhousing.

All transmissions have a bellhousing. That's how they attach it to the engine.

Isn't the 4L60E the same except for internals in both V8 and V6 models? Maybe he wouldn't have to change it depending on what engine he chooses to use in the car.

Yes internals, but bellhousings and electronic connections and starter mounts very between the V6 trans even. 01V6 trans is totally different then a 96V6 trans.

Based on emails from GM that have been sent to me after I questioned them about the different trasnmissions: the difference between the v6 and v8 trans. is that the bellhousings are different and the v6 trans won't bolt up to the V8 engine because of this. As far as they know their isn't any aftermarket bellhousing or fabrications that would make this work. The V6 and V8 4L60E internals are just as strong as the others. The only difference is the bellhousing. I would get it in writing that this Trans shop can make it work before I had them do anything.
