What is all that is involved in changing my rear end? I have a '98 w/ 3.08's. I did a search and nothing would come up. I figure that this is a well exhausted topic, but could someone help me out, that'd be cool.

Take my advice, dont do it yourself. I do pretty much everything on my car, and this is one thing I wont touch. If the gears are not set exactly ( within 1-2mm )they will whine and wear.

As far as parts, you need a 3 series carrier LSD ( $89 take off from SLP ), 3.42 gears ( buy them used from some of the V8 guys for $75 or so ), a ABS reluctor ring ( I dont remember the part number, but you need it for the new LSD, about $40 from GMPartsDirect.com ), and a gear install kit ( this comes with all new bearings and bushings and can run anywhere from $150 to the GM $300 kit ). THats all you need other than new rear end fluid, additive and a gasket.

Search the Tech forum andnot the Advanced forum, you will find mre there because this is such a common mod.
