What do you guys think, is it overkill or a sound upgrade over the aluminum one. Money aside of to an extent. I know it out prices the alu one by more than double.

Well, I like to be the best and I have to say that a carbon fiber drive shaft would be dope to have. But if you have the 1LE then go ahead and send it to me and you can get the 700 dollar carbon fiber one. lol, No seriously, I believe it's weighs way less then the 1LE, correct??? Or at least enough to free up some rotating mass so I'd have to say go for it. It makes sence if you have the money. I don't have the money so I'd like to d!ck slap who ever priced that thing. But if I had the money I'd get it.
The only thing though, well, for me being that it's so expensive I'd be worring about breaking it. That is when I have my car modded to the max, such as running low 13's or so. I don't know, 3.73's, a high stall torque converter, and a huge shot of NOS. That would be something that I would be paronoid about. For as much as it costs I'd hope it comes with a warranty, LIFETIME.1 of a kind
Red 97 Camaro
Modifications:
SLP CAI, RK Sport Headers, Car Sound High Flow Cat, 3\" piping
3\" Steel driveshaft, SFC\'s, Panhard Rod, MAC Torque Arm
Manual Fan Switch
Best E/T:
60\' 2.152
330 6.271
1/8th 9.704
MPH 71.93

With the benefits I've seen from the 1LE, I'd would've had one if they were more affordable. I'm gonna get a torque converter now, so I don't think I'd consider it at any price.1998 Firebird 3800 Series II, A4
Direct-Flo Lid,K&N Filter,DEE TB Spacer,TPS-TEC,ZZP Mini-AFC,Raised and Cutout Airbox 7mm,BMR STB & Boxed LCAs,KYB AGX Shocks,Drilled/Slotted Rotors,180* Thermo,2.5\" Catco Cat,Dynomax 2.75\" custom catback,Kumho Ecstas/245,Jet Stage 2,3.42,Edge Racing 2870 Stall,B&M Tranny Cooler,B&M Deep Tranny Pan,LSD,AAM Girdle,1LE DS,NX Wet Kit,MSD DIS-4,MSD Blaster Coil Packs,Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Wires,NGK TR6\'S gapped .045,ZZP UD WP Pulley,SLP Fan Switch,TT II\'s
N/A: 15.6342 @ 88.44 (On stock converter. OK, here's a little info on CF from someone who works with it on a fairly regular basis. I work at a university flight research lab where we do a lot of work with CF composites in aviation applications.
In terms of breaking a CF driveshaft from the torque of the engine you aren't likely to do it. CF composites are generally a lot stronger than steel not to mention the fact that they will flex a whole lot more before they break. Due to these properties you are actually more likely to snap a steel driveshaft than a CF driveshaft.
As for every day driving they aren't as durable as a metallic driveshaft. CF is stronger than steel but it is rather brittle and tends to crack and shatter under impact. All it would take is one rock at 70mph along with the rotational inertia of the driveshaft to undermine the structural integrity of the driveshaft and cause it to fly to pieces.
I've run into this problem with one of my current projects. I'm attempting to produce CF body panels for my car to drop a significant amount of weight. Due to the low impact resistance though I'm going to have to make them with an outer layer of fiberglass which means I can't make them as light as I would like.
In conclusion IMO it would make a good strip only mod but if its going to be a daily driver I don't think it would be a good idea.

It would be a daily driver so perhaps this isnt the best mod to invest in. I dont have gobs of money to kill at the moment so this would be a future mod. Compared to the 115 or whatever it is price for the 1LE the CF may not be worth it for me at the moment, but I think ill end up trying iy within a year. Ne ways thx for the input.1998 Firebird 3.8, A4
Mods: Alum Ds, Yank TC 2800 stall, Rksport lid, FTRA, SLP air temp sensor, K&N, Flowmaster catback 2.5\" w/cutout, 3:42 gears w/LSD
Best E/T: 15.6 @ 86 mph (w/o gears / lsd or verter)
Best 60: 2.234
www.teamfoxfire.iwarp.com -- club site
To come?: l67 piston package hardened, turbo? spray? low 12\'s? well see

carbon fiber is a lot stronger than you think it is...i know Pro Stock is running carbon fiber DS's and they make 1300hp and run high 6'sBlack 1998 Pontiac Firebird A-4 swap
271.4rwhp/259.4rwtq NA
13.30@102.44
www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98
