well what i have read it all depend's if it's auto with 3.08 gear's and you will be a 2 series carrier and if you have standard which will have 3.23 you will be a 3 series carrier

alright, so based on the above info, I have a small problem...I have an M5 w/ 3.08's (at least that's what my RPO code shows)...all I here is that only auto's come w/ 3.08's, yet everything short of pulling the diff cover is telling me otherwise...assuming I do have 3.08's w/ an M5, will I have any problems w/ putting 3.73's in w/ a 2 series carrier...any help much appreciated, as gears are going to be ordered w/in a month

Unless your car is one of a kind, I dont' think any M5's came in any gear other than 3.23 from the factory. Don't you have the GU5 code? 3.08 is GU4.
