  • Ok time for M5 Folks Who've Swapped to 3.73's

I have read all about the folks with the autos switching to 3.73's but how 'bout the m5's. we won't have to worry about shift points changing but the speedo and speed limiter will still be there......but if I purchase the SLP speedo calibrator will that correct the speedo ALONG with the speed limiter? how much 1/4 difference have you noticed? I have a 3.23 open rear and have cut a 2.1 60' n/a so I am really exicted for 3.73's!

M5 w/ 3.73 swap here. Yes we don't have to worry about shift points and all that **** and with that SLP box the speedo AND the odometer will be correct. Also your speed limiter will be where it should be again because the computer will read the corrected speed. And dear god is having 3.73 LSD so much nicer than the 3.23 open diff. I mean it's like night and day. The damn thing just sits and takes off like a bat outta hell. Both Magnus and Camaro Zach can vouch for that one! :D

I have heard the SLP unit only fixes the speedo not the Speed limiter. Is this true?

I'd like to know what the p/n is for the SLP recalibrator. I bought one only to find out that it's for V8 models (directions were only for LT1s and LS1s which each have different wiring harnesses and that I would imagine are different than ours).

When I called SLP Technical Assistance (and a lot us know how (un)helpful they can be!) they said that it would work if you had an LS1 to V6 cross-reference for the wiring harness. Where in the hell would I get one of those!

I haven't ordered the SLP piece yet, however it should fix both the speedometer and the odometer. Which also, if your speedometer is set correctly, will keep your speed limiter at 118 or whatever it is. From what I understand of it, the box works w/ all f-bodies and just modifies the signal going into the PCM for whatever gearing ratio/tire size you have.
