I want to be able to modify my speedo to account for different gear ratios/tire sizes. Auto tap and odbII dont let you change things right?

    What can i use?

What year is your car? Hypertech makes a number of programmers for our cars, they change the speedo for gear changes and tire size changes. That's the easiest way, it can also be done by dealerships if you went to a gear size that came stock in other cars like 3.42 and 3.23. But you almost have to know someone on the "inside" to get that done cheap.

Actually, SLP makes a module that sits in between the rear and the PCM that you can calibrate tire size and gearing on any f-body! I just found out about it today. Here's the link...

But as I recall, as WickedSix fromS an Angelo found out, with the SLP unit, it corrects your speedo, but your top speed drops with each gear change lower...So he got 3.73's, and now can only go 98mph.

this is not only the easiest way, its the best way. the thing is that your car has to be between 2000-2002.

Ok sorry, I feel really stupid now. Its a 97. I hate it when people ask questions and then dont give the important info. So the hypertech will only work for 2000-2002 cars?

You guys can refer to this thread on how to cheat the computer into having the correct speedo reading by using a different tire size.

the only bet is the SLP thing if you have a manual tranny...you just wont top end as high as you would prob like...and its $175!
