• Gains expected from Alu. single piece drive shaft?

98 fiebird 3.8 na/ runs a 15.6 best with light mods and street tires.

What gains could I expect from a Alu. single piece drive shaft IE: is it worth the nearly 400 bucks or should I invest in a TC first?

You should definetly go with the torque converter !! I heard it could take .4 to .5 off your 1/4 mile time !

400 bux The aluminum 1le DsS costs 212 bux brand new.
I saw 4 mph gain in the 1/4 and a .2 off my ET.
And that waas going from the 2 piece DS to a 95 TA steel DS. The stock 2 piece weighed 27lbs. And the Steel 1 piece weighed 18 lbs.And now the aluminum 1le that i have weighs 10 lbs.
Hoped that Helped.

thx, as far as the converter goes, what stall should I use? I was going to go with a yank but I have no idea about stall vs drivability. I still want the car as a daily driver, but I want ot to be in the 13's na. So I have to think about which way i want to go. Which stall is aggresive but still able to retain drivability?

Also, do they make a carbon fiber drive shaft for the 3.8 f-bods? If so ill gladly pop the cash for it. The thing probably weighs like 2 lbs or so. Ne ways let me know. Also where are you guys ordering the alu. driveshaft from? I saw it on a site for like 390 bucks and thats a tad steep for alu for me.

get the 1le driveshaft from gmpartsdirect.com
Part number 10085375. I've seen the carbon fiber ones for 700 plus. Can't remember where. Go to:
summitracing.com, thunderracing.com or rksport.com

Do a search on torque converters. There's alot of information. Minimal stall that you'll see gains is around 2800.

Do a search on aluminum driveshafts too. Mixed opinions. I like mine.

Start doing searches before someone jumps you. All basic bolt on questions have been asked hundreds of times.
