  • time to upgrade the converter 3800-4000 stall

I am really going hard on the drag racing scene and i think i am gonna get my converter restalled. I am having it in for warrenty work soon and im thinking about having it uped to a 3800 stall since i now have a big cam and soon to have a large direct port shot around a 250 shot. SO i think a 3800-4000 stall would be clean esspecially since i will be shifting at 6500 rpms now. and my power band is further up.

Not to much cause i am extending the shift points higher and with the cam it bumps the power curve up.

 Is your motor prepped for a 250 shot? I'm going with a 3200 stall converter. That's about where the blower kicks in. What brand converter do you have? Edge?

                      Why not improve elsewhere first?
Your mph is lacking and you want MORE stall???
Practice some more at the track and you might be able to go quicker.
I have had my converter installed since last season.
I can honestly say I have only recently learned to maximize it.

I have maximized my converter already. 1.86 NA and 1.63 nitrous is pretty darn good for a 3000 stall. The reason i am not gettting good mph is cause my tranny is sliping so thats gonna get fixed at the same time as the converter is being restalled

the big shot of nitrous will cause your converter to flash ~1000 rpm's or so higher..

so if you get a 3800 NA stall, you're giong to flash at 4800 or so on the juice.

And if your car shifted at 6400 NA, expect it to shift around 6800 on the juice.

How much duration does the camshaft have at .050 lift?, What type of cam? (solid roller, hydraulic roller, etc.). And what are the lobe centers?, What rear end gear ratio are you planning on using?, Is this a "limited street" application?, Are you going to be using the nitrous all the time when racing?, What has been done to the motor for longevity?, And finally who is building the transmission?, And what are the modifications being done to it? Glad to help when I can. Let me know the answers to these questions?
