  • Gears/Differential???

Would it be better to upgrade to 3.42 gears before or after I replace my differential with a limited slip???

How much of a pain in the butt would it be doing both?? Will I need to buy anything else besides the gears and differential??

To install the gears, you have to take out the differential. You might as well just put the new diff in at the same time so that you only have to do all the work once.

Has a bunch of links on just how to do it. Also try searching through the Drivetrain section.

a lot of guys do the gears/diffy at the same time. really just a matter of convenience/cost effectiveness. if you do them separately, you'll have to crack open and replace fluid twice.

anyhow, i'll move this to drivetrain where you can get a little more help

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
