• Stock 3.4 gears?

I have a 1995 3.4L Auto... what gears would I have?
I read it could be anywhere from 3.08 to 3.42, but I don't have the owners manual to check. Is there any other way to check?
The spedometer says about 35mph in first gear at like 5500rpm and I shift out of 2nd at about 70 if that helps.
3rd gear at 5000rpm I am a little at about 106.

tires are P245/50ZR16 I think

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the 3.4 auto's came w/ 3.23's as did the manuals. You should go over to http://www.fbodytrader.com , register a name and post in the 3.4L registry thread in the "Website Suggestions" forum. This will add you to the 3.4L Registry and give you access to a 3.4L ONLY tech forum.

I don't have anything on the door that says GU5... I checked the stickers on the side and in the fuse panel and everywhere, no GUs.
Am I looking in the wrong place?

I think all 3.4 came w/ 3.23 gears regardless of tranny. I've never heard of a 3.4 coming from the factory w/ any thing else.

your codes should be in the glove box compartment.

i heard there were a few special 3.4L's that came with 3.42's. i know there was one that claimed but became rude and nasty to me when i politely asked for him to verify.

I'll find out in about two weeks when my rear end is done. I'm going 3.73 w/ zexel torson carrier.

Check by the latch on your driver side door.

Look for the codes
GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42

formmy understanding 98% of 3.4Ls have 3.23s, but I do remember seeing one or 2 people say they had facotry 3.42s, and they were prominent members.

OnixV6 was right, they were in my glove box.
There are 3 stickers on my driver side door, one that gives the weight and junk of my car (It was over 4000lbs! ... and made in Canada ) and 2 stickers about tire pressure.
It said GU5.
Thank you kindly for helping me out.
Now the only question is.... how much will changing gears help me? :D
I have a looooong list of repairs to my car to do over spring break (Fastchip, CAI, fix my passenger side mirror and window, tranny cooler, gauge for trans. temp, and front breaks... so much to do) so this summer I was considering gears. 3.42s? I don't really care as much about top speed, just as long as I will still be able to cuise at 90-100mph thats fine with me. I just like acceleration hehe.
Any suggestions?
