I've finnally found a good, cheap way to fix the speedometer! I tried the Jet SCU2000, and what a disaster that was- I dont even own the unit anymore and I still have to deal with it's problems! (I had to help the guy I sold it to put it through warrranty)

With the techedge, it doesnt matter what gears, what tires, what car, or even what transmission you have- it corrects the speedo signal right before it gets to your gauges- it just splices right into one of the wires on the pcm, and everything works great!

Cruise control even works, which was a problem with the Jet.

For $99, it is also the cheapest way you can go.

Thanks for the link. I've been hoping for a way to recalibrate my speedo when I do my 3.73 swap also (been waiting to get money...) but this will definately help out, and plus it's way cheaper than all the other ones and actually works. Thanks!

I also forgot to mention another great feature that I love- the unit is the size of two quarters! After I wired it up, it tucked inside the stock wire loom... nobody knows its there! Its a very clean installation.

I swear, I'm really not a salesman for this stuff... heheheh!

Does it connect to the wire from the tranny to the PCM or the PCM to the speedo?

It splices at the pcm where the VSS sensor wire is at. It does not affected ABS or TCS and it will not correct shift points as far as I know. It will only adjust your speedo.

Would this fix the speedo for gears above 3.42? Or is there no way to fix that?

It works on a percent. You start out with 100%(that would mean no change at all) then you just calculate your tire size and gears(which they give you a formula for, very easy) and then you come up with your percent. On mine I have 245/45/16 tires and 3.42 gears so my setting was something like 90% or 92%. You can adjust it from 1% to 255% thats alot of options you can make. Like I said mine is only at 90% with 3.42 and you can go down to 1%.

Only problem is this still wont correct your speed limiter, so if you go to a shorter gear you speed limiter will come down... which blows. I thought the HPP3 would solve this, but I guess not, still this thing seems like a good option for the money.

I thought this thing would correct your speedometer, so wouldnt your speed limiter still be at 118mph?? It still sucks that we have that, especially when you have Z-rated rubber, but that shouldnt change then should it? I can live with the 118mph governor until I can get my pcm programmed or something comes out that actually works for 98 cars, but if it's only gonna correct my speedometer output but lower my limiter to like 100mph, then I dont wanna get this thing. Anyone have any proof?

It only fixes your speedometer so that the PCM still sees a speed that is off. So you still have a speed limiter.

Yup, all its doing is changing where the needle is, so if you go to a shorter gear your limiter will be coming down. Still not bad... looks like custom programming is still the only way to get everything...
