• installed 3.73's !!!

i just threw them in and it feels a lil stronger...tell you the truth, if i would've wasted my money on 3.42's, o i would've been pi$$ed off...i really cant tell what gains i got untill i get my speedo fixed...feels stronger though!!

go 3.73's over 3.42's ..not bad on gas at all, and i drive 30 miles to work and then back..no difference in fill ups...

overall....worth the money to put it in
im happy

I was thinking about putting 3.73's on my 94 A4. How much did you spend and where did you have it done?

i bought the gears from summit...i know i could've got them cheaper but what the hell.. i hd them installed in jersey a guy has his own shop
and he installed them for $200

my rpm's are riding bout 2800 @ bout 78 mph
im gessing..my speedo is still not fixed....i look and i see im doing 90 on the speedo wheim really doing like 80 and my rpms are close to 3grand...

i recommend the 3.73's over 3.42's anyway...i dont see a big difference if you have 3.23's and upgrade to 3.42's....doesnt make any sense to waste money on such lil increase..atleast you get a half rotation more with 3.73's and more speed off the line!!

do you not punch it very much? because you should feel a real big gain! im not trying to flame cuz its the truth, but some people baby their cars all the time and dont really know how fast it is, then when they get a new mod, they cant tell if its faster,
ex: my best friend has a 99 formula, he went from 2.73's to 3.42's and couldnt feel any difference, then he went to sealy(1/8th mile) and picked up .4!!! but he babies it so much its ridiculous!

When my 3.73's come in i am expecting HUGE SOTP feel!, if i dont, i will be slightly disappointed, but as long as it drops about .4-.6 in the quarter (w/DR's) ill be happy!

wickedsix-- i dont necassarily baby my car..i dont beat the hell out of it either!! but i do know that you will feel better gains cause you have 3.08's in your car and i had 3.23's ...i do feel better gains off the line but like i said its hard to tell cause my speedo is still screwy.

i know in A4's the shift goes through real quick so its probably the same for an m5.. wouldn't you go faster if you got through the gears quicker??
i could be wrong but it makes sense!!

i have 3.23's!! my car is a m-5!, also, why do you guys keep thinking first gear will be too short w/3.73's? there is no way in hell you are too slow to pull second gear!! if you are, you need an automatic!!! even if MAGNUS had a m-5, it still would not be a problem to pull second!, 2nd gear will come quicker but not that much quicker!

I went for the 3.42s from the 3.23s mainly becuase I have to commute 45 miles every day and didn't want the engine screaming at 80 mph, overall I'm happy but probaly would have had more fun with the 3.73s. First gear is short as hell but I like the power.

3.23 to 3.42
why even bother? did it make any difference track wise?
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

As some of you know, i had an auto which i dropped in a manual...and my auto had 3.42's, hence i now have a manual with 3.42's rather than 3.23's...i dont know how you think 1st is too short...i think its just right. you shouldnt wind out 1st like anyother gear, it IS the shortest to begin with. anyways, i want 3.73's however i dont know how great of a boost it will be from my current gears.
