not sure how far you are into it...

but some tips... ditch that crappy hurst rubber cover use teh stock piece, you will get some heat up through there, you'll notice it when you rest your hand ont he shifter.

also just keep the wrenches in the car to adjust the stop and leave the console out for a few days. I made the mistake to thinkg my first adjustment was good, and had to pull the console.

Get a short stick that fits hurst shifters and put your stock ball on, or upgrade yous

I kept them both on lol.. it fits.. why not? What do you mean by adjustment? I just bolted mine on and it works fine. Shifts are very short and my car uste to pop out of gear in 2nd... for some reason it doesn't now

and one more thing, I don't understand why people say the aftermarket shifter is longer, I think the one I have on my car now is about the same length, I didn't really notice a difference when I switched shifters, just a new nob and way better throws

A short throw? I got mine at summitracing.com, part number HUU-3915032
or do you mean the rubber piece? I'd say goto a junk yard and pull one if you threw yours away.

I put the hurst rubber cover around the 2 screws that were sticking out on the shifter and it created a seal around the upper part of the shifter, I would imagine a seal around it would protect it from dirt and dust and make it last longer.

...Just want to add the caution that came with the shifter kit...
What happens if you don't use the hurst boot that comes with the shifter

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
