Amount of Trans fluid

Hey all - how much trans fluid does the A4 require? Can't seem to find it anywhere, not even the owners manual. Thanks!

Well are you talking total capacity? Drain and fill? When you drop the pan off? New torque converter? Whats the situation? What year?

But to answer your question in short:

Automatic Transmission, 4L60-E Initial Fill..........5 quarts
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill 4 speed 4L60-E..........8.3 quarts

I usually put in the 4-5 quarts and then start checking the fluid level.

I have a 97 and I am having a total flush done, so I'm assuming it will be a total fill after the flush. Probably 8.3qt.

I dunno if you're doing it or what, but at my shop we flush 16qt through any car we flush.

I'm taking it to the dealership to be done, so it's done correctly, but bringing my own fluid. I'll just give them a call and ask how much I need to bring along

Why your own? They'll most likely use Dex6 and that's pretty good stuff.
