  • Cracked flexplate??

I believe my flexplate is cracked. Making a faint ticking sound from the TC. I read there is a way to remove and replace it without actually removing the tranny has anyone done this?

I think you just have to unbolt the tranny and slide it back...its just like 10 bolts holding it on...

Found on another forum where 3.4grapeofwrath unbolted the torque conveter and just slid it back closer to the tranny. Sound like a tight space. I really dont want to pull the tranny unless I absolutley have to. It was just out maybe 3000 miles ago

You'll more than likely have to pull the trans. If it was out 3000 miles ago, did you do it or did a shop?

Lock-tite is your friend. Might want to get new bolts as well.

I had a flexplate crack on me around the hub. There's a reinforcement plate and the spot welds broke loose. I bought a replacement flexplate new from the dealer and it was bent (couldn't tell that of course until I put the darn thing on and started the car).

Ill have to look at it later and see if its a possibilty. The ticking almost sounds like an exhaust leak

If its a ticking sound most likely its a exhaust leak.

I know its not an exhaust leak because the sound is coming from under the dust cover
