  • weird problem with shifting in a manual transmission

Im having weird problems, and it started a few days ago, it could possibly be gear related, because i just did my gears, but it was fine for a few days

its only happens in 3rd gear, what happens is, i will try to shift from 2nd into 3rd, and as soon as i let out on the clutch, it kicks the shifter back into neutral, it doesnt do it if i go from neutral into 3rd, or from 4th to 3rd, if i force the shifter in an apply alot of pressure it will grind hard but finally hold the gear

i know the t-5's are weak, and its usually 3rd gear that starts going, so is it my clutch slipping? or my tranny taking a nose dive? idk but it sucks to drive any suggestions are welcome

i have a hurst, it was fine for almost a year now until a couple days ago, unless my new 3.73 gears could effect it

The rear end gears wouldn't affect it. Pushing itself out of gear is usually a sign of either the fork pads being worn or broken, or the fork physically bent. Worn synchros could also cause the issue but I would bet on the shift fork.
