So tonight I hit a pothole, got side ways, and slid into a 5" concrete curb at about 45 mph, needless to say the rim has seen better days. So the question is has anyone used the wheel straightening that some people offer, is it worth like 100 bucks or should I just buy a new rim?

Might want to check to see how much a new wheel costs. Might be worth it in the long run to just buy a new one & not have to deal w/the bad one.

New rim, you might be able to find a silver colored rim for around 150 or so(not sure of your rims) and after straightening it, it may be weaker and break or someting, thats what happened to my uncle's rims on his 3000 GT, he broke two rims that way. Then: 1997 3.8L Red Firebird~SOLD!~<p>Now: 2002 Atlantic Blue Dodge Ram 1500

I drove directly over a curb at 20mph and destroyed one of my american racing rims. Turns out they did not make the wheel anymore, so called all over OKC and found 1 place out of 10 that would work on it. It ended up only costing $50. I would take it around and see if you can get it repaired for about 1/2 the price of new wheel.RED 1995 CAMARO 3.4L<br />Moroso cai, ASP Underdrive Pulleys, B&M Shifter, Flowmaster 80-Series Muffler, Polygraphite Sway Bar Bushings, Endlinks, and Panhard Rod Bushings

One thing I have noticed is that the moderators on this board are “move happy”.
Anyway:
I agree, and recommend buying a new rim, you should be able to get one from a salvage yard for about $125. I am sure repairing the rim would cost more than that.

Personally, if the rim is damaged more then a little scratches, I would go with a whole new rim. I wouldn't risk driving down the freeway and you hit a small bump and the rim cracks even more and loses the seal on the tire... that definitely wouldn't be good.Kyle M<br />--------------<br /><a href=\"http://grdws6.netfirms.com\" target=\"_blank\">2002 Trans Am WS6</a> (silver, A4) - lid, cutout, stage 3 shift kit, 12 bolt, vig 3200, tranny cooler, bmr sfc/stb, torq thrust ii. <b>12.688 @ 106.47mph -=- 1.756 60\'</b>

If you go with a whole new rim for the dealer, it's gonna cost you over $400 buck for a new one probably. I did the exact same thing you did when I first got my car and I took it to the dealer and I was stupid enough to let them bend me over the counter while I payed them $430 for one new friggin rim. I would check out a salvage yard and use some of those links above to find a new one.
