• So I'm looking for a nice hood, shaker or cowl?

Do you remember that shaker style hood for 4th gens?
I haven't been able to find a link to where ever it is.
Or the cost etc.

I've always liked the cowl hood.
I think it would work quite well on my bird.
I'm really working on weight reduction off the nose.
Typically I can find the 2.5 inch cowl hood for $409
I found one place www.ls1speed.com that has them for $389.
Any suggestions?
I've also seen 4 inch cowls and that is a bit too much for a daily driver cause I don't want any hassle form the local officer's.
Any suggestions for better prices?
Or comments?
How about how much does the stock hood weigh vs fiberglass?
Thanks

Hey James that Shaker hood your are looking for was made by Suncoastcreations.(they had stopped making them). My friend emailed them a couple of weeks ago they (Suncoastcreations.com) said they were gonna make them again in the early part of the new year. Email and u could possibly get more info.

Hey James. I digg the 4 inch cowl inducted hood from ls1speed.com. I think that would look great on my camaro and I plan to order mine in about 2 weeks. That would also look good on your bird. Get the cowl.

I love shaker hoods, and never even thought about a shaker on a bird. I'm kinda skeptical about that one in the link above, though... They show ONE picture of it, and it's not that great. In fact, in the picture it looks like a one piece hood. Aren't shakers generally two pieces? Anyone got any other pictures of it? You'd think the manufacturer would have better sense than to show a WHITE one. You can't see curves and creases in white! What were they thinking?? I emailed them asking for more pictures and info.

I imagine that shaker hood is one piece with the shaker built on the hood. The original shaker hoods were 1 piece also but the hood had a hole in it for the shaker to come through. The shaker itself set atop the carburetor. ;)

It wouldn't serve any purpose to have two pieces since there's no way to make the shaker hood functional on the 4th gens. If you could make it functional, it wouldn't be very effecient. :D

The origonal shaker hoods weren't very efficient either. They were set too far forward of the windshield for full effect. Theywere supposed to be a form of cowl induction, but cooler looking  Now if the intake ws in front, it would've worked better, kinda like the dodge 6-pak hood scoops
