  • Roll bar, halo

Ok, this might be the wrong place, but it's kind of appearance.

Anyone here have a rollbar (just a halo or a halo with a crossbar) in their car? I just took out my back seats and I'm planning on putting in a halo with a crossbar(so I can use 5pt restraints).

I just wanted to see how people with this did their's. I thinking I will make it a four point cage(behing my front seats going into the hatch) with a single crossbar. The points will be bolted then welded in.

I don't know too much about roll bars. But you should keep in mind what the purpose of your car is. ie Drag or autocross or whatever.

The venues you visit to race should be able to tell you what you must have, or can't have. That way you don't waste your money.

The only racing I do is drag so this will be for a little peace of mind.

Is this for the 16-17 second 95 3.4 racecar in your sig?

Well, currently it is that car, and we all know it isn't a race car obviously, but when I put my 3.8L in I will be either juicing it or turbocharging it(I'm leaning towards just putting a turbo on it...I can do it a few hundred dollars less than the nitrous, and it will always be on), and then I should hopefully be into the mid-low 13s, we'll see.

I was originally going to put in my LT1 but I decided to sell it and just put the L36 in (cause A) it will cost more to put the LT1 in and B) it's easier to sell an LT1 than an L36).

Mid-low 13s on a drag strip don't really need a roll bar, but I want to put 5 pt restraints in (the stock seat belts are not enough, I have a scar across my forehead from my 88 camaro wreck in which part of my forehead was detached from my head to prove that- note, not my fault). Airbags will help, but if I roll over I would like to have the stuck in the seat of the 5 pts and the extra support of the roll bar. Safey first, even if a little excessive.

I can get a race shop around here to make this for me when I get ready to put it in, and save money. But that will be a couple of months.

Oh yes, no need to be sarcastic on this, I'm very well aware of what I am doing. ;)
