• Well just got my "new to me" car...

I must say that i was not a big fan of the 3rd gen firebirds. When i was looking for a summer car , i came across this one, a 1997 firebird.I drove the car and just had to have it.
It's has a V6 -3.8L , 5 speed.She is all stock for now.
I like to do some mods on her that dont brake the bank. From what i have been reading on this site, here is what i like to do...
Flowmaster 80 with duel outlet's,SLP roller rocker's,cold air intake, and 245/50/16's.That should keep my hands full this summer.
What do you guys think about the mods list?Is this a good start?
BILL<br />1997 Black Firebird,3.8 V6.

nice lookin car! And the mods sound good, I prefer dynomax exhaust tho, just my opinion. And get some clear corners, on a black car they look really good!

Not a bad start at all. Some may have their opinion about the exhaust, but it's all in preference. Everything else looks like a good start.

BTW: Newfie eh? I'm half Newf. My Grandparents are from the otherside of the rock (Corner Brook)

Hey Andrew , i grew up in Corner Brook.
As of noe i have an Open Diff with 3.23's.
Is there a big diffrence by going to a LSD wit 3.73's?I never fooled around with gears befor.
I know the car will go up through the gears faster and lose some top speed.
What would be the top speed of a V6 with 3.73's?
If she'll do 75~80 MPH at a low rpm in 5th gear,i might look into it.

looks good

just a little FYI....93-02 is 4th gen, thus you have a 4th gen, not a 3rd gen....

i have a 3.4 and all i've put on so far is a flowmaster dual outlet exhaust system, and a k&N cold air induction kit. it took a few weaks to break them in but i was really suprized at how much peppier it is now. and i like pissing off old ladies with the loud noise

Good lookin car! I don't know much about rockers and the such but why are you messing with them? I'd assume it would be better to wait for other mods along those lines (cam etc) but like I said I don't know what I'm talking about. Flowmaster - bah I had one on my 2.8 bird and it wasn't bad but it was just lacking to much, personally I would look around at some others (spintech :D ). 245/50/16's screw 245's go the extra mile for some 255's looks alot better. Other than that I say tint (tint is a must). Also spend some time on this site and get ideas for free/cheap performance/appearence mods, a little bit can say alot

if you get a flowmaster get the full catback. they just came out with a new flowmaster catback for the 3.8. definitely wroth looking into. A catco 3 inch cat will be a nice addition too. they can be found for 50 bucks and less
