  • Steering Wheel change

I tried to finda post about this before but there doesn't seem to be one. Anyway I have big problem with the doors and the the steering wheel.
I rally think that the steering wheel on my 00 is too big. It is rather hard to get into the car. The steering wheel sits in my lap and feels like it is in the way. I am not too big either 5'8". So I wanted to see if anywone changed their steering wheel and how much it was.
P.S\. I don't care about the air bag I found where the box is so I'm sure that if I disconnect it the airbags won't go off.

ofcourse I know it can tilt up but it looks and feels retarded. I don't want to look like a grnadma drving a camaro. That is degrading. I also pull the seat back as far as I can while still touching the pedals.

I've never had a problem with my steering wheel and I'm 5'8 as well. Are you a hefty guy? If not, then maybe someone stuck an aftermarket sterring wheel in your car before selling it.

This is by far the weirdest opinion I've ever heard about F-Bbodys.

I was thinking and I thought It might be the seats. The way they are positioned since I have the crapy seats that are adjustable only in cerain ways. Anyway all of my friend also think that the steering wheel is huge and it is bigger than any car I have ever seen so I know its not just me. Its a done deal. I've already made up my mind on changing it. The only thing is figuring out how hard it would be to install a small hand little racing steering wheel.

                  I'm 6.0' tall and about 325lbs.
With the wheel up and the seat all the way back
I still have to squeeze in.

I have thought about changing out the wheel
with a Grant but I kinda like having the air-bag.

This thread makes me feel better. At 6'3" 260 I thought I was a biggun. Yeah - keep the airbag, that's a lot of guts to go flyin if you're in a bad one. As for the stock wheel - I would never give up my stereo controls, I got spoiled by them pretty quick. Heh - whenever my passenger reaches over to turn down the volume knob I am ready with my thumb on the volume up rocker. ~ rhodey

6'5 350 and no problems. I wouldn't think the '00 would be much different than the '96.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
